WHAT MAKES YOU THE CHOSEN ONE? You Are The Chosen One:  Knit a square, then send with your story. You Are The Chosen One was a community knit mural composed of 108 sections knit by 99 artists. The pieces were sewn into a billboard that read, "YOU ARE THE CHOSEN ONE" and was displayed downtown Portland, Oregon for the month of September 2011. THE SQUARES All 100 squares to measure 12 inches by 12 inches, please do try to get them as close to 12" x 12" as possible. 82 of the squares can be knit in any gauge(s), in any pattern(s) in any yarn(s) in any stitch(es) in any color(s) to measure 12 inches x 12 inches. 18 of the squares are the letters YOU ARE THE CHOSEN ONE and can be knit in any gauge(s), in any pattern(s) in any yarn(s) in any stitch(es) in any color(s) provided those colors are contrasting in order to clearly see the letter and that the letter takes up the majority of the square. The 8 border pieces will be added at The Cleaners at Ace Hotel when the billboard is assembled/sewn publicly before it's display *US#9 needles casting on 60 stitches in worsted weight (or casting on 40 stitches in bulk weight) makes 12" for me, but do a swatch test of course! THE MURAL The mural "You Are The Chosen One" will be displayed on a frame outdoors in downtown Portland in the fall of 2011.  There will be a plaque thanking contributors and supporters and asking viewers in English, Spanish and Braille to write to the website and share what makes them the chosen one.
